ABOUT C.A.R.E.

Established in 1994, C.A.R.E. provides a safe haven for foster children with emotional and behavioral problems due to the destructive family life into which they were born. These children, ages 13-17, have abused drugs and alcohol to self-medicate against a world that no longer seems to care.

With operations in California and Nevada, C.A.R.E. specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of drug and alcohol abusing/dependent adolescents who are wards and/or dependents of the courts.

Each facility provides a comfortable, safe, home-like environment that is professionally supervised 24 hours a day. C.A.R.E.'s treatment program for all residents includes:

• Structured behavioral programs utilizing a point and level system
• Case management performed by social workers at each facility
• Individual and family therapy
• Weekly anger management groups
• Drug and alcohol education by addiction treatment specialists
• Twelve-step programs utilizing sponsors
• Random drug testing
• Academic tutors/mentors to supplement educational goals
• Psychiatrist for psychiatric exams and medication evaluations
• Staff nurse on call 24 hours per day

C.A.R.E.'s operation is dependent upon monthly payments by the State of California (for each child in our program) as well as donations from caring people for its daily operating needs.

C.A.R.E., was established on May 10, 1994 as a California non-profit corporation operating under the Employer Identification Number 77-0376234 and the DLN number 17053058781019.  On April 2, 1999 C.A.R.E received the five-year IRS tax exempt determination as a tax exempt charitable organization.  Grantors and contributors may rely on C.A.R.E.'s 501(a) status as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
